Vampires vs. Hunters — A Dark Salsa Story Brought to Life

This year’s Halloween Salsa Show at R&M Latin Dance Sydney was a thrilling blend of storytelling, drama, and high-energy Salsa — all wrapped inside a spooky battle between Vampires and Hunters. Our dancers stepped far outside their comfort zones to bring this concept to life, and the result was a truly unforgettable performance.

🔥 Halloween Salsa Show Story: When Worlds Collide

The show followed an original Halloween storyline created by our team:A fearless group of Hunters sneaks into a vampire lair… only to discover that these vampires don’t just bite — they dance.


What unfolded next was a playful, dramatic fight for power expressed entirely through Salsa: sharp footwork, dramatic shapes, intense partnerwork, and theatrical acting that carried the story forward without a single spoken line.

The clash of characters brought a fresh, exciting twist to traditional Salsa, making it one of our most creative Halloween showcases yet.


🎭 Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

One of the highlights of this project was how much fun we had creating it together.From designing the storyline to rehearsing the dramatic transitions, every dancer embraced the challenge of combining:

  • expressive acting

  • character work

  • Halloween theatrics

  • and Salsa techniques and timing

For all of our dancers, this was their first time performing any dance choreography and in character — doing suspenseful entrances, dramatic freezes, and power standoffs. Seeing everyone break out of their usual comfort zone was inspiring and made the final performance even more rewarding!
